Three Champions heading to Chealsea

Our champions headed to London

Amogeleng, Cassius and Thandanani our Sbonis’ iDiski champions headed to Chelsea to live their dream.

Shield Sbonis’iDiski kept its promises to help and develop football in South Africa - now in its third year, it’s bigger than before.

So once again, Sbonis’iDiski has proven itself as one of the foremost football scouting programs in Mzansi when it comes to unearthing talent. And as a result, three champions were afforded an opportunity to train at Chelsea having already earned a 1 year contract with the mighty Orlando Pirates MDC team.

From OR Tambo to Heathrow airport, the boys stayed at Stamford Bridge. Living the professional footballer lifestyle, they trained at Cobham, ate and lived in London, all for a chance to play against the Chelsea Invitational XI.
Getting used to their surroundings is important, so a trip to the famous London Eye and a stadium tour of Stamford Bridge did them good… but their focus was on the ultimate prize.

While in London, they faced the Chelsea Invitational XI as part of the Africa XI team. And they delivered, winning 3-1, making them ultimately #MoveWithShied.

For Amogelang Matebesi, Cassius Spandiel and Thandanani Tshabalala from Kuruman, Frances Baard and Kroonstad respectively… a professional footballing contract started as a dream. Now, they have each received an Orlando Pirates MDC contract and are crossing oceans for an experience of a lifetime.

Follow their journey on @Shield_ZA as they #MoveWithShield in London.
