Terms & Conditions

TERMS & CONDITIONS

  1. The promoter is Unilever South Africa (Pty) Ltd (“the Promoter”).

  2. The promotional competition is open to all South African residents in possession of a valid identity document all South African residents over the age of 18 years.

  3. The promotional competition is not open to any director, member, partner, employee, agent or consultant of the Promoter, the marketing service providers or any person who directly or indirectly controls or is controlled by these entities, including their spouses, life partners, business partners or immediate family members.  

  4. By participating in this competition participants agree to receive future marketing material from the brand/s on promotion.   However, the participant has the right to unsubscribe to receiving marketing material or request the promoter to delete their information by contacting the Promoter at 15 Nollsworth Crescent, Nollsworth Park, La Lucia, 4051 Att: Legal Department or opting out from any electronic marketing message.

  5. All personal information (‘Personal Data’) supplied by participants shall be processed in accordance with South African data protection legislation and the Promoter’s Privacy Policy.

  6. This promotional competition is open from the 20th of February 2018 and ends at 12am (midnight) on 30th of  April 2018. Any entries received after the closing date will not be considered.  

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  1. To enter, participants will be required to purchase any Shield product from a participating store in a single transaction. Participants must then dial *120*744353*# and follow the prompts and enter the last four digits of their barcode and continue to follow the  prompts.

  2. Three incorrect attempts, will result in a user being blocked.

  3. Users are allowed to enter one unique code per week. And ten times during the duration of the campaign.

  4. The till slip must be retained as proof of purchase.

  5. Participants will then be required to answer the questions that they are prompted on.

  6. Participants must enter in their correct contact details. If a Winner has given incorrect contact details, the Promoter reserves the right to select another Winner in terms of the rules.

  7. Participants may enter as many times as they wish provided that each entry is associated with a separate purchase of Shield using the barcode.

THE PRIZE

  1. The prize is one of 2 prizes:

    1. Train at Chelsea: Three winners will be selected to win a trip to London, England to train for one day with a nominated Chelsea Coaching staff at Cobham Training Ground in Chelsea, England.

    2. One Year signed contract to play for the Orlando Pirates Football Club Development Team: One winner will be selected from the three “Train at Chelsea” winners

  2. Prizes are not exchangeable for cash or transferable.

SELECTING WINNERS

Prize A: Train at Chelsea

  1. 500 participants (100 per region) will be randomly selected starting on 20 April 2018 and ending on  4 May 2018 from selected regions around South Africa, to play at Regional Tryouts. (“Regional Tryouts”). Regions are as follows:

    1. 12 May 2018 – Johannesburg

    2. 19 May 2018 – Bloemfontein  

    3. 26 May 2018 - Cape Town

    4. 2 June 2018 - Durban

    5. 9 June 2018 – Pretoria

  2. Finals week will take place between 1 - 3 August 2018 in Pretoria. 25 participants (5 from each region) will then be selected to participate in a structured skills competition taking place over 3 days at a venue in Gauteng using a series of skills based tests to assess competency of participants. An independent judging panel, including Chelsea coaches, Orlando Pirates coaches and South African soccer experts will assess, evaluate and make the final decision based on performance on the day.

  3. At the 3 day skills programme in Johannesburg a panel of judges made up from local and Chelsea coaches will run a series of skill based challenges such as Dribbling, Shooting, Tackling, Defensive Behaviour and Penalty Shoot-Out.

  4. Through a process scoring of actual player performance, 3 participants will be selected on the final day to win the Train At Chelsea Experience at Cobham Training Centre, the official training ground of Chelsea Football Club.

 

Prize B: One Year signed contract to play for the Orlando Pirates Football Club Development Team:

 

Upon returning to South Africa, 1 winner will be selected from the three “Train at Chelsea” winners to be signed to Orlando Pirates FC for a One year contract for the 2018/2019 football season to play for the Orlando Pirates Development teams (MDC and/or SAB League sides). Monthly salary to be confirmed prior to contract signing with the Club. Orlando Pirates development teams are based in Johannesburg, Gauteng. Player to be part of the development sides setups, and to be attending daily training as well as all other various Club's activities to which the said player will be required to be part of. Deal subject to medical clearance by the Club doctors, and by the acceptance of the Club's code of conduct (employee handbook) by the chosen player.

PRIZE DETAILS

Prize A: Train at  Chelsea

  1. The Prize includes:

    1. To train at Cobham Training Ground in Chelsea, under the supervision of qualified Chelsea coaching staff

    2. Return flights from a South African International airport to London Heathrow;

    3. transfers from London Heathrow airport to the hotel on arrival and back to the airport on the day of departure;

    4. 2-night stay in a standard room at 3-star hotel selected by the Promoter;  and

    5. £100 spending money which is to be used for all meals, and personal entertainment.

Prize B: One Year signed contract to play for the Orlando Pirates Football Club Development Team:

  1. The Prize includes:

    1. One year signed contract to play for the Orlando Pirates Development team for the 2018/19 football season. Monthly salary to be confirmed prior to contract signing.

    2. Such Winner selected will have to be between the age of 18 and 21 years old.

    3. Such Employment Contract shall be with Orlando Pirates directly, and Shield will assume no involvement or responsibility or liability whatsoever, in terms of the employment relationship with Orlando Pirates.

    4. Shield assumes no liability to Orlando Pirates or to the Winner in terms of this employment relationship.

General

  1. Winners are required to be 18 years and older to qualify.

  2. The Prize Winners will be required to provide their name, ID number, Copy of their Identity Document, contact details.

  3. The Prize Winners will be notified telephonically where they will be required to verify their details.  The Promoter (or their agent) will endeavour to contact the Prize Winners once every day for 5 consecutive working days after their name is drawn.  If the Prize Winners cannot be contacted during this period, the Prize will be forfeited and another Winner will be selected in accordance with the rules.  

  4. Prize Winners will be required to sign an indemnity form.

  5. Prize Winners must be in possession of a valid South African Passport, and have no known reasons why they are not eligible to apply for a United Kingdom tourist visa or would not qualify for one.

  6. The Promoter will pay the fees for the UK Visa.

  7. Hotel and flights and tours are subject to availability at time of booking.

  8. The Winner must be in possession of a valid passport with expiry dates no less than twelve (12) months following the date of return to South Africa.  If the Winner does not meet this condition, the Prize will be forfeited and another Winner may be selected in accordance with the above rules.

  9. The Promoter will be responsible for arranging the required visa for entry into United Kingdom. The Winner bears all risks associated with any refusal of entry into United Kingdom.  No compensation will be payable if a Winner is unable to use the prize (or any part of it) as stated for whatever reason.

  10. Should the Winner be unable to redeem the Prize during the specified dates, the Prize shall be forfeited and another Winner may be selected in accordance with the above rules.

  11. The Prize excludes:

 

  1. Passport costs (should the Prize Winner not have a valid passport), personal expenses whilst in the United Kingdom such as laundry, telephone, mini-bars, travel insurance, luggage insurance, and gratuities.

  2. The Winner will need to arrange their own transport to/from the nearest international airport in South Africa on their departure date and when they arrive back in

                            South Africa.

  1. A full itinerary for the Prize will be supplied to the Winner. Any additional expenses outside of the prize will be for the Winners own expense, and anything, including but not limited to any meal, activity, transportation, additional excursions, accommodation and all other costs and arrangements which are not included in the itinerary will be for the Winner’s expense.

GENERAL

  1. The Winner will be required to sign an Indemnity and Media Release forms.

  2. A copy of these rules can be found on the following website www.shield.co.za throughout the period of the competition or can be obtained from the Consumer Call Centre on telephone number 0860 572 861

  3. Failure to claim the Prize or a refusal or inability to supply required documentation or comply with any of the competition requirements within 1 month will disqualify the Winner and a new Winner will be drawn in terms of these rules.

  4. The Promoter shall not be responsible for any lost, damaged, delayed, incorrect or incomplete entries for any reason whatsoever.   Proof of sending will not be accepted as proof of receipt.

  5. The Promoter shall not be responsible for the failure of any technical element relating to this promotion that may result in an entry not being successfully submitted.

  6. Responsibility is not accepted for entries lost, damaged or delayed as a result of any network, computer or cellphone hardware or software failure of any kind.  Proof of sending will not be accepted as proof of receipt.

  7. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any claim if fraud or cheating is suspected, including without limitation, through the manipulation of code or otherwise frequently falsifying data.

  8. No applications from agents, third parties, organised groups or applications automatically generated by computer will be accepted. No incomplete or corrupted entries will be accepted. Entries will only be accepted if they comply with all entry instructions.

  9. NOTE: Any attempt to use multiple email, cell phone or Facebook accounts or other tactics to enter or vote more than the stated limit may result in disqualification and all associated entries and/or votes will be void. Entries or votes generated by script, macro, bot, commercial contest subscription, incentives or other means not sponsored by the Promoter, vote-swapping sites, voting software, entering service sites or any other automated means and entries or votes by any means that subvert the entry/voting process or do not conform to the terms or spirit of these competition rules, will void the entry/votes and may disqualify the entrant.

  10. The prize is not exchangeable for cash and is not transferable.  

  11. The Promoter reserves the right to use the images/film footage taken of the Winner for publicity purposes/television programmes, in any manner they deem fit, without remuneration being made payable to the Winner.  However, the Winner has the right to object to these images being used by written notification to the Promoter at 15 Nollsworth Crescent, Nollsworth Park, La Lucia, 4051 Att: Legal Department.

  12. The Promoter shall have the right to change or terminate the promotional competition immediately and without notice, if deemed necessary in its opinion and if circumstances arise outside of their control.  In the event of such change or termination, all participants agree to waive any rights that they have in respect of this promotional competition and acknowledge that they will have no recourse against the Promoter or its agents.  

  13. In the event that the Prize is not available despite the Promoter’s reasonable endeavours to procure the Prize, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute the Prize of equal value.  

  14. Neither the Promoter, its agents, its associated companies, nor any directors, officers or employees of such, shall be liable for any loss or damage, whether direct, indirect, consequential or otherwise arising from any cause whatsoever, which may be suffered by the participant or the Winner.  

  15. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.  

  16. Participation in the promotional competition constitutes acceptance of the promotional competition rules and participants agree to abide by the rules.  

  17. This promotional competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Telkom, MTN, Vodacom and Cell C and the participants acknowledge that they are providing information to the Promoter and its agents only and not to telephone networks.

  18. All participants in this competition release Telkom, MTN, Vodacom and Cell C from all liabilities and claims arising out of or in connection with this competition and these terms and conditions. 

  19. The Promoter reserves the right to delete any information uploaded by a participant which the Promoter, in its absolute discretion, believes is illegal, obscene, offensive or defamatory, or infringes the intellectual property rights of a third party, or is otherwise inappropriate for a campaign designed for mass audience entertainment.   

  20. Participants warrant that they have full rights to the images and stories that they upload and that the use of the said material shall not constitute a breach of any third party’s copyright or other intellectual property rights.

  21. Participants agree that by uploading their “images” and/or stories, they grant permission to the Promoter to use the images or stories or any part thereof, in any and all media for promotional / marketing purposes with no consideration payable to the participants.
